Yoga Essentials

Donna Farhi, she is going to teach us yoga from her all years of experience.

We are going to learn: how to setup for basic standing poses, offering ways for relaxation, traditional practises like sun salutations.

In One Word, Yoga is about you entering a form and finding how that form is going to be expressed through your body.

What is Yoga?

Om shanti… shanti… shanti…

Yoga came from the ancient time of India, mother country from where this tradition came from. According to her, ‘yoga is the sutras of patanjali’. Sutras mean scripture of sanskrit literature and Patanjali was a sage in India who is believed to have authored a number of Sanskrit works, the most prominent of which is the Yoga Sutras.

The purpose of yoga is to reconnect to the higher power source which is not only animating me but also animating the whole world. REMEMBER: The power that is growing all these trees, with which earth and all planets is moving, IS WITHIN YOU. That same power moves the sun up in the morning, runs our life cycle of born and death. Yoga teaches us in the moment when everything in our life is shattering and breaking, yoga make us recognize the unshakable things which truly make up our life.

One mistake all of us do is: People imagine happiness as this geeky thing which upon getting will bring us to the state of this glessing, wonderful and exciting, but in reality happiness is just this smoothness, calmness and contemptment.

Brahmacharya

Brahmacharya is an important concept in yoga philosophy. It is often misinterpreted to mean ‘sexual abstinence’. It actually means ‘non-indulgence’. In leisure, we must keep this principle in mind, as too much indulgence overrides intellect and leads to destruction (tamasic leisure).
