What is Tissue Culture?

This technology allows for the large scale plants to grow in limited space.

How does Tissue Culture work?

Tissue culture works by growing small peice of tissue into a plant.

Then, the tissue is kept in circular disc and kept in incubator.

We need to provide special nutrients for quick growth of plant.

Types of Tissue Culture

1. Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) 2. Meristem Culture 3. Micropropagation  4. Cloning

Through SCNT, cloning in animal like sheep named "Dolly" has been possible.

Conclusion

Tissue culture is a reliable and excellent technology which is extensively used to grow plants and animals.

The aim of plant tissue culture is to reproduce and regenerate a plant from one or few cells.

This means that numerous species of plants can be multiplied via tissue culture.
