iPhone with USB Type-C Port will be available for sale

iPhone with USB Type-C Port will be available for sale

An engineer modified the iPhone X, also called Frankenstein iPhone. He replaced the lightning port with a USB Type-C port and sold the Frankenstein iPhone for US$86,001.

The good news is Gernot Jobstl created a waterproof iPhone with a USB-C port. Like the previous Frankenstein iPhone, Jobstl superglued iPhone X with a USB board to make it waterproof.

Jobstl shared a youtube video where he showed this modified iPhone as a waterproof iPhone. Ken Pillonel inspired him because he was the one who created the first USB-C iPhone. He took help from Pillonel’s GitHub Page for completing his waterproof USB-C iPhone X.

He didn’t stop with this, he also created a new custom part containing 20% carbon fiber that helps in the supporting of the USB-C module in the iPhone X.

When he was soldering a USB-C connector, he used super glue for isolating internal wiring. This internal wiring doesn’t look nice, so he did that.

That was the interior but from the exterior, you can see super glue left in the process of making the USB-C Port waterproof.

He is looking for more awesome projects like this, so he can fund these helpful experiments. For this, he is selling this waterproof USB-C iPhone on eBay at the starting of January 19.

eBay is an e-commerce website that allows users to sell and purchase goods and items, basically for online auctions and shopping.

He still has not officially announced the starting price of this waterproof iPhone. Pillonel’s USB-C iPhone X was sold for $86000 in November last year, so his iPhone has huge potential for selling at a demanded premium cost.

Apple’s Rumor

Why Tech giants like Apple has huge interest in AR (Augmented Reality) glasses to replace smartphone

When talking about Apple’s plan, it does not indicate shifting to USB-C port charger.

There’s a rumor that Apple might move from a lightning port to a portless design that would be completely wireless.

This type of rumor came out in 2021 but that didn’t happen.

Hopefully, iPhone 14 is expected to release on October 31, 2022, there’s a rumor that the iPhone 14 pro could support wireless charging and Apple’s Newest MagSafe technology instead of the Lightning port.

He (Jobstl) also claimed the world’s first waterproof USB Type-C iPhone that he made and is for sale.

In this waterproof iPhone, like the lightning port, the USB Type-C port is also used for charging or transferring data.

Apple already is using the USB Type-C port in most iPads. The remaining is the only entry-level iPad on the lightning charger. Last year, Apple already launched iPad Mini with a USB Type-C port in the 6th generation model.

In starting 2024, USB Type-C port will become mandatory for smartphones in the EU, reported Android Authority.
